Elisabeth Moss is wildly miscast. not for a moment does she seem fragile enough, or naive enough, to have been taken in by this guy in the first place. Add to that the utter vagueness of the plot (her boyfriend is a “genius in optics”. What exactly does that mean, and how did he make his money? How does his invisible suit work? Since he’s invisible for most of the movie when he’s not being a raging sociopath, and she’s pretty much always glum and/or mildly peeved, what did they ever see in each other?) Dull, plodding direction masquerading as seriousness. The movie would have been better had the director and producers embraced its ridiculous, exploitation film potential.
