Even though I'm atheist, I enjoyed watching this film because of great performances by the leading actors and an authentic feel to the settings in general. Pity that the producers copped out of including Chile in the list at the end of the film indicating countries the pope (Francis) had visited. It is probably because the pope had made a huge judgment of error on that visit, siding with those involved in covering up abuse against children in the country. He did make amends later though for his rash action by apologising to the victims.

Great series, up there with Morse, Vera, Lewis. Unusual setting for this kind of detctive drama, showing a dismal, depressing Wales. No window dressing. Although I personally love this kind of landscape, I can well understand that it is small wonder that so many Welsh have emigrated. Completely convincing portrayal of believable characters. I've actually watched the series twice!

A great film, well worth watching for its powerful plot, excellent cinematography & convincing performances. I first saw this film when I was living in Russia (in 1995) and have watched it again several times.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series - just sad to see actors of 'my era' ageing as it means I'm ageing too! Many of them are doing so gracefully, but then there are the sad cases like Ann-Margret who appears to be filled to the brim with botox & co. to the extent that she resembles a wax doll. Incapable of even the slightest twitch. Either way, hope to see season 2 soon. PS. Snowflakes might find the series out of their comfort zone. Possibly too Politically Incorrect for them.

Perfect if you're looking for something light but better than an ordinary soapie. Really good casting, acting & subplots. Lovely setting - but not really California (Canadian landscapes in fact - the light gives it away - too far north).

So happy to see the series is back! What makes one want to watch this? The great actors, the script, the setting? Whatever. I really missed it during the pandemic.
