Overburdened special effects do not make up for low quality acting and script. Not one of Kenneth Branagh best movies. His directing was directionless and at times confusing.

Much better in Vera. She's a quality actor but I don't think comedy is her strong suit.

Tom Hanks, once again, gave a performance that rates him as one of the finest actors of this generation. His range is, in my humble opinion, matched only by a few. Only he though could have performed the role of the title character, Finch, giving the pathos required. Hats off also to Caleb landry Jones as the voice of the robot, created by Finch to care for his dog in the event of his death. Jones gave a very humanistic tone and childlike quality of wonder at the world that played very well in harmony with Tom Hanks charachter. An excellent film, certainly one of Tom Hanks best.
