I never watched it when it was originally aired, but I binged during Covid. I loved the show. I love that it was simple and fun, but complicated and messy. That is real life for a lot of people. I had no idea there was a revamp in 2016 so when it went to the next episode, I thought it was just starting over until I saw that everyone looked different. There were some random parts, like the play about the town that made no sense, but the rest of it was similar to real life. Our beloved characters mess up, turn their lives upside down, figure it out or not, adjust, move forward, move back. I actually love that Rory was lost and confused and had fallen flat on her face. Now, she has a chance to build resiliency and be authentic to her adult self. Getting pregnant as a single mom was perfect. I hated that she cheated with Dean (in original) and with Logan (in second) but that shows how she is imperfect and the best laid plans, being intelligent, being super prepared, going to the best schools, etc still make people do things that are not "right". It is only when life beats you up, that you build resiliency and true character. I got totally into this show and invested in the characters, which shows how great of a show it was (IMO). That rarely happens for me so 5 stars for the show and the 2016 4 episodes as well. Who cares if it turned out the way we would have wanted :)
