This game looks amazing and the writers really outdid themselves with the constant funny and interesting dialogue, I found myself talking to every npc I saw to see what they had to say and was very rarely disappointed.
The main story is slightly boring at the first level, then ramps up in quality afterwards, which is pretty sad since I’m sure a lot of people played the first zone and then quit; In fact the reason Im posting this review so late is because I did just that. And also because I have very strong opinions about it for some reason lol.
All the zones are beautiful and have a different theme to them, including a theme park, toad town and luxury spa.
I found the side quests to all be very enjoyable, detailed and well realised, and I was always looking to do them before continuing with the story.
The fighting mechanic is obv pretty boring, but so is the normal turn based combat in my opinion, I think it’d be cool if they stepped away from that style.
There were some parts where I had to look up a guide, since the game was very cryptic about what to do next, the majority of the game was explained pretty well though.
ENDING SPOILERS AHEAD:
seriously, don’t read this if you don’t know already it’ll ruin it, just tap on my review to make it go away :D
The ending felt very unsatisfying, being
unable to play in the setting of all the origami being reversed and instead just being kicked to the start of the ending fight again. Similar to BOTW, except it was cool in BOTW since there’s so much to do in it.
I was also pretty sad that Olivia didn't use her wish to bring back bomb-omb, since a big reason I kept playing was in hopes that I could bring him back, I mean, I’m sure the origami toad could’ve reversed it all too with enough time lol.
Overall the ending was pretty depressing, with Olivia and bomb-omb dead and no end game. Left a bad taste in my mouth but I still remember all the fun I had before then. :D
