I'll give this show an ehhh okay? I love the dark aesthetic, the school and the map looks amazing, the details such as Stella's ring is cool, the energy between Riven and Dane, the actors did an AMAZING JOB, especially Eliot Salt, Eve Best, and Hannah van der Westhuysen. But, without wings, not a little bit of that magic and sparkles, and with no cute outfit in Bloom's transformation doesn't feel like Winx at all, it feels like an entirely new story about witches or just humans with superpowers. Especially the unnecessary new characters, Terra? Dane? Bellatrix? Sam? which I KNOW is the intention to make it entirely different but like... why? the actors that played them are good, but they could've make Eliot Salt (Terra) to Roxy or Daphne, Sadie Soverall (Bellatrix) to one of the trix, Theo Graham (Dane) to Nabu or Brandon, Jacob Dudman (Sam) to Timmy, AND Elisha Applebaum (Musa) to Tecna. Not to mention, the fairies can have the same power/ability in Fate... like... Stella's a fairy of "light" and Bloom's a fairy of "fire" and Aisha's a fairy of "water" and probably another fairy could have the same power, like knowing that makes the fairies less interesting. While in the original cartoon, the powers are LIMITLESS and I remember EVERYONE have different type of fairy power, Stella is the fairy of The Shining Sun, Bloom is the fairy of the Dragon's Flame, Aisha is the fairy of Waves. They changed Dowling's name to Faragonda or probably a new character? In Fate, they only focused on Bloom and her powers AND they turned Aisha from The Crown Princess of Andros and The Fairy of Waves, to just a regular water fairy and a token black character. They even changed Musa's interesting power from the fairy of Music to an "empath" AND they whitewashed her which is VERYYY unforgivable. She represents a lot of asian culture in her home, some of her dresses too. And it hurts as an asian person seeing people letting Netflix get away with this and being "okay" with whitewashing. They make Stella's character a carbon copy of Regina George when she used to be one of the nicest in the group, but I still love her character in Fate tho. And they make Bloom a "not like other girls" stereotype. I don't mind with missing Tecna and Flora as long as they're mentioned in the show or will be introduced soon, I wouldn't be surprised if they will change Tecna's or Roxy's power in the future seasons. And with Terra being a white girl and Flora's cousin, I'm afraid there's chances that they will make Flora white. I wish to see her AT LEAST mixed or is hispanic/latinx in general.
