It’s ok. Not that faithful to history, has the same broad plot as all other princess movies nowadays. The art style is beautiful and I grew up loving ‘El Tigre’ but this story is another one(same stories), painted in azteca colors. Aztecas regularly sacrificed without any problem, she should have been taken for another reason such as marriage to Mictlāntēcutli (without the half god side plot). Speaking of regular sacrifices, her parents should have both died in order to give maya that last push for strength in beating Mictlan. The characters speak colonizer(Spanish) yet azteca still stands. If you wish to do multi languages use Nahuatl or just English. The ending was full of deus ex machinas. Chimi shouldn’t recognize her mom and it’s kinda mess up she just calls the animal who raised her “monkey” instead of a name. Picchu’s lesson was to learn how to be infective in combat and kill off a serious threat but instead he’s patted on the back for letting his family die(I loved him and his death but this should have been the lesson). There is a lot of things happen just for the plot to move forward rather than it being seamless. Every azteca used a sword and shield because it was simply more strategic. Aztecas weren’t Spartans, so I don’t understand why the troops form like Spartans from movies.
