Intriguing and worth watching if only to add more reviews here. I would think reactions vary tremendously —some may be too disturbed by the story to appreciate the twist. I’m somewhere in between but definitely thought provoking and a courageous gamble into rarely chartered waters. But probably in reality not as rare as it is depicted in films.

I’m ambiguous about this movie. One of the most unlikable casts ever. Especially disturbing is the scene where wife gets high and decides to be brutally honest and more cruel than necessary in telling husband when she desired another man. Awful acting as well ... if that monologue of slaughtering one’s husband is any indication of the effects of weed back then — boy what an evolution. That’s not her fun side I hope. And Tom Cruise ? Is he acting or did he have the flu during filming ? He’s never been as unattractive nor his wife as openly hostile. I had to see that movie half a dozen times before I knew what was going on and then I was stuck with a harder question. Why did I need to know? Confusing and manipulative- that’s how I’d describe the movie I didn’t need to look as deep to find so little.

Witty wonderful Ray Milland NOT the villain. Great cast. Engrossing suspenseful sometimes downright silly yet still it works because talented actors banter with perfect timing. Fun movie.

Having read drastically different reviews that ranged from amazing to awful from magic, a must-see to a moronic mess... I hadn’t planned on staying with this, figured I’d watch the first few minutes or as long as I could stand it before I was bored .... I didn’t think about turning it off from its bewitching opening to the same stunning soundtrack accompanied the closing credits. The description would not have drawn me into a theatre nor had me waiting til released on cable. It’s not my genre, it’s the antithesis of it in fact. I like mystery true crime twists wit and being surprised. Being surprised was the only match, and here it was enough to keep me thoroughly transfixed and terrified throughout, satisfied with the ending and I have no idea how to explain why. See for yourself. *I adore Hawkins from “happy go-lucky” a beautiful film and unique in its own way.
