Marvellous! A wonderfully sweet, funny and well produced look at the life of one of my generation’s great comedians. Boomers will have a nostalgic evening of remembering watching him as a guest on talk shows from their youth in 1960s to 90s. All the greats are there in B & W and grainy orange and brown archival footage. The fashions! The big hair! David Letterman, Flip Wilson, Johnny Carson and Rob Reiner as young men in tight suits! Like Sunday nights with The Ed Sullivan Show, this is television worth watching.

Just love watching this series in August from my warm city home with running water, light switches, thermostats for Air con and heating, gas fireplaces, fridges amd freezers, and 2 shopping malls within 10 min. I don't eat meat but I would if I couldn't get all the veggies and nuts and seeds I want. I never want to be cold or wet and 25 C is the perfect temperature, but it's so interesting to see how people in this inhuman environment eke out a living, if you can call it that. I'd like to see Kate rear up on her hind legs and tell hubby where he can stuff it much more often, he has a nasty temper and needs to learn anger mgmt. No wonder they're divorced now. Hope he got himself some staff because he doesn't know how to treat a woman. "On a stretcherboard by bedtime" indeed!

To all the viewers who posted negative reviews: you’re too young to appreciate this period piece ! I was 29 in 1980 and the sets on this series are so accurate it’s eerie. As if those living rooms and kitchens had been frozen in time. I remember all the fashions (some of the hair is a little over done but, hey, it was Texas) and the fabrics; the style of furniture and the music - oh, they nailed it with the soundtrack. Really enjoyable trip through my own past, lovingly recreated by talented set designers and props people. Kudos.
