I just dropped $100 to see this movie because it was only playing in two cinemas in Ottawa on October 7th—just for that day. And where were these cinemas? Of course, the ones as far away from my home as possible (thanks for nothing, Lyft). Naturally, they were sold out, so I ended up sitting one row away from the screen. My neck is still recovering.
Was it worth it? Absolutely. Best $100 I’ve ever spent. Not only will it tug at the heartstrings of every meaningful friendship you’ve ever had, but it’s also a love letter to creators everywhere.
The music, the story, the characters—it’s short, it’s sweet, and you’ll cry. If you don’t cry, you’ll at least sob awkwardly through the credits like I did.
Now, the last five minutes? Eh. They went with a slideshow of random memories we’ve never seen, which feels a little cheap after all that stunning animation. But, hey, the voice acting and music on top of it will still leave you dehydrated.
10/10, would spend $100 and wreck my neck again.
