Karen Brooks Nelson

I really wanted to like this show but found it a big of a slog. The characters were compelled to be together but nothing in their relationship seemed positive or helpful to their situations. In the end, Marianne says something to the effect that they had helped each other get through various situations. I just didn't see that. They consistantly failed to understand how the other was feeling and they managed to hurt each other because of this. I felt sorry for the partners who were unlucky enough to spend time with them. They were unceremoniously dumped or they disappeared from the scene. The many hours of viewing with nothing uplifting was very difficult for me although Connel's mother was a bit of an inspiration. The series One Day was a similar theme but eminently more watchable for me.

I was very confused while watching the show. I didn't understand the motivations of the characters. I didn't understand why people could go around killing with no consequences. I didn't know why there were so many unlikable characters. And the music drove me crazy. I like the actors and wanted to watch them and it was Canadian but writers please do better. Less is more.
