Tár isn’t a film for everyone, especially if one’s not a classical music fan. But Kate Blanchett offers a disturbingly fascinating portrayal of a Berlin Philharmonic Maestro who shapes her career with much glory and a heavy dollop of fakery as the icing on her torte. It shows that in the contemporary world of anyone’s leadership can be toppled when s/he doesn’t play by the rules regardless of that leader’s talents. And when that leader’s insane faults are captured via today’s technology, it shows how the tech can help to trap the rat.
