A movie that I thought would be great because of the hype from other people, turned out to just be a disappointing mess of an idea that could’ve genuinely been good. The pacing of the story is horrendous and feels like a random amalgamation of events that don’t connect smoothly (or at all) to each other, with things happening just because they can. I really tried to like this movie, and the animation is lovely to look at, but that’s the only thing going for it. Apart from terrible pacing, the characters are also generally unlikable and I found myself not rooting for any of them. They were shallow and didn’t feel like actual people. Even the parents being turned into pigs I didn’t care much for and wasn’t panicking for the main character to get back to because that’s all they were, ‘the parents’. Overall very underwhelmed and didn’t enjoy watching this movie.
