I’ve read the actual story about the serial killer. Not knowing the details, I had high hope that this mini series could be a nail biter, given it has all the elements: murder mysteries, the hippie 70’s, exotic locations like India and South East Asia, and a dogged Embassy attaché. But. But! The back and forth of the time travel for multiple characters and plot is exhausting and adds zero value to the story telling. Also, three episodes into the plot, I got bored- it was the sameness, and I could tell what happens next.
Acting wise, almost everyone is passable, with a few being exceptional. Not the main character Alain though- he portraits a flat personality, and there are no dimensions to his acting. The character is supposed to be a charmer. Where does the complex personalities go?
If the story were told in a better way, and the main character were a bit more interesting, it would have been a more enjoyable show.
