I loved it. There are too few films featuring queer protagonists where the characters' sexuality isn't the focus of the plot. Many more to come I hope. This movie is fun and thrilling, it moves fast and it looks good. Yes, it is violent in ways that seem real and painful which I think is better than violence without consequence (which the film does do at the end unfortunately). There is an element of fantasy to it too that is perhaps silly but I love directors trying out strange ideas. It mixes the real with the imagined. I do wonder if some of what was left on the cutting room floor connected more of the interesting plot details and I'd be curious to see a director's cut. The one star reviews here seem mostly written by people in their 60's and older.
