I liked that this movie showed how gas your life can go by and that you need to focus on what matters. As soon as they decided to stop trying to escape the places they were at the second they found a way out.
All of the people on the beach were chosen because they all had something wrong with them. God chooses people with problems to show his glory. Like Rehab the prostitute. Literally in the bloodline of Jesus.
All of the people that focused on their problems and insecurities (the things that didn’t matter) instead of enjoying their time with family, and loving each other (the things that do matter).. their problems actually ended up consuming them.
The lady who wanted to be beautiful didn’t want anyone to look at her because she was insecure about becoming old.
The doctor had built such a reputation that he couldn’t show any weakness and everything was someone else to blame.
The only ones who made it out were child like just like God told us to be. They started enjoying their time together instead of trying to escape.
Then God used the kid from the beginning to provide a way out. But even then they couldn’t make it on their own. Following Gods plan for them they still needed divine intervention or Gods help to get it done. Hence the cracking of the coral.
It’s like he picked out metaphysical situations that hurt people in the world and turned it into a physical representation. Then we are left to decode it back to the metaphysical version. Just like the decode paper that was given to them to get out. The movie is the message. But you can only receive it if you focus on what matters.
