Longlegs initially shows promise, delivering a suspenseful atmosphere in the first 15 minutes that had potential. Unfortunately, that potential quickly evaporates, leading to a movie that fails to deliver on its premise. The storyline becomes predictable around the 45-minute mark, which takes away any tension or intrigue that might have been building.
One of the most glaring issues is the character design, particularly the makeup and hair for Longlegs. It feels poorly executed, to the point where it's not just ineffective but distractingly bad. Instead of being frightening, the character ends up looking almost comical, which undercuts any horror the film attempts to create.
Despite these flaws, the movie somehow managed to score a 7/10, which seems overly generous. Perhaps it was the strong start or some aspects of the production that resonated with some viewers, but for those expecting a genuinely scary and well-crafted horror film, Longlegs is likely to disappoint. What could have been an eerie and unsettling experience ends up being forgettable, with the only memorable aspect being how quickly it all goes wrong.
