I felt like they just wanted to make more money rather than they had an epic story to tell. They could have excluded some scenes and just made the main arc of the story stronger.
The inciting incident isn't super clear - I didn't realize until 58 minutes into the movie that it is about taking down the Red Room.
The family stuff was the first scene of the movie. It gets even more messy and then, without spoiling anything, the dots don't connect in a well done way.
