If you have even a moducum of interest in dire straits, you will appreciate the absolute quality of this album. That is all.

Not really sure what the author is trying to say. The characters are initially well developed but we spend lots of time analysing how they are interpreting the transition, whilst their parents struggle at first. There is no background or explanation to the phenomenon and it seems little understanding of it. I searched for an allegory but found none, other than one day we all will be much of a same colour. Lets hope we achieve it more peacefully than this.

Read it 40 years ago and it still has a deep pathos. If we believe the conclusion, we are doomed to fail, albeit life has taught me that large aspects of its story are sadly true.
