I struggled to give the film even two stars, but the cast, the costumes and the scenery were very good, so I felt one star would have been rather unjust. I’ve just watched the film on Netflix while it was on offer for £1.99, and I’m really glad I didn’t watch it when it was full price. If I’d been watching it at the cinema I don’t think I would have seen it through, but as I was watching at home I was able to distract myself and carry on watching at the same time. I started reading people’s reviews during the film, and I know if I’d read some of them before renting the film, I wouldn’t have bothered with it. The mixed race casting didn’t bother me in the least because the film can’t be taken seriously anyway, and the cast was one of the few things I actually liked about it. The storyline and the humour however were dull and nonsensical. I know there have been some very good reviews, but it really depends on what you want to get out of the film. If you want anything more than a farcical version of the story then I would give it a miss.
