Cute Jack Black movie. Not cute like "School of Rock" cute. Definitely more 12+ crowd. Some of the jokes are a touch crude but not over the line (didn't care for the touchy relative joke for personal resons but I could move past it). If you experienced a recent death of a child it's probably not for you. For the "average" crowd it's a christmas movie different from the rest. It stands out as funny, clever, and even heartwarming in parts. Better than sitting around watching hallmark movies all the time. Good for some laughs. 6/10

The plot was a little heavy with multiple conflict sources that got rushed to resolution towards the end (id have been fine sitting another 15 minutes for some more development) but in the end the movie still stands as some of Tim Burton's best work in visual effects and directing. The acting was done well and Dafoe and Ortega contribute to an already excellent cast. I also appreciated the character development that the 1st movie lacked. Definitely one I'd be happy to rewatch again as a Halloween time tradition
