I am very surprised by the 1 and 2 star reviews, if you notice, reviewers either left a 1 or 2 or a straight 5. I think that speaks volumes. It seems the younger crowd doesn't appreciate this movie because it a "slow burn" and doesn't use intense action slides or freaky creatures to produce the fear. It is a body horror movie, and a bloody brilliant one at that. I feel like those who claim "it isn't deep" missed something very important. This movie is brilliant. Its a refreshing original plot, the idea isn't unheard of, but they way it was executed gives all the other movies before it no comparison. The SFX, the characters, the plot, the atmosphere, beautiful. Worth the watch, no doubt. Just because a movie is a slow burn does not mean it is boring. Perhaps it's one of those movies that you need to be in the right mindset/atmosphere. I can see this being "lame" at a house party of teenagers, but the highlight of the night for fans of horror/thriller/suspense and even action movies. Turn off the lights, get comfortable, and embrace it.
