Shelley Weakly

This is a fun changeup in the cooking competition genre. The secret aspect makes the judging more real and the interpersonal relationships more awkward. They clearly made an effort to surprise with unexpected twists and reveals in each episode. Now that we know it's a David Chang show, it will be interesting how that affects future contestants.

How can a movie be so hard to watch with such brutally flawed characters and still make me walk away feeling hopeful? It does read like a one-set play, but it's that clostrophobic atmosphere that creates so much empathy for the main character. Liked it way more than I expected and is one of those stories that will be bumping around my brain for days.

Had to double check to see if this was a Broadway musical they turned into a film, but looks like it will be the reverse. Super fun and fairly funny. Very clever retelling of a worn out tale. Didn't think I needed yet another Will Ferrell Christmas classic on the annual playlist, but yes, this will slide into rotation.
