The most misogynistic thing to come out of HBO. Not only did they treat the female like an object the whole season, but they also made this nonsensical twist at the last 10 minutes of the series that reveals she was the bad guy all along (??), it's discrediting so many victims of abuse with this problematic plot line that Jocelyn wanted the abuse and manipulated everyone to abuse her just to be creatively fulfilled... I feel the execution of this was so clumsy and poorly written that any semblance of a strong commentary was lost in translation and just became a train wreck of a show.
There were many instances where the show seems to provide hope that it will become something great
but any of those moments are crushed by confusing directorial decisions that can't seem to commit to any of the ideas they planted in the first half of the season. The only thing they seem to be committed to is making sure all the girls are as naked as they can possibly be for as much screen time as they can.
Also it's so repetitive and boring, it's a lot of "water-cooler" moments where the characters are just sitting around and talking rather than showing it to us. There are also too many scenes of just Jocelyn in the studio and people having sex and doing drugs in her house, I just don't see the point of the show's existence past the first 2 episodes and it felt like such a drag.
The one thing I'm mostly annoyed with was Dayanne's character arc
as they kept building up to it as if her debut will crush Jocelyn's career, and I really wanted to see it happen and see her perform the song, but we got nothinG. The arc literally ends with just the record label denying Dayanne to even debut, what is the point ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Overall, just a super poorly written show with terrible directorial choices that make you feel you just wasted 5 hours of your life.
