Karen Draisey

I loved this book although I agree with a previous reviewer who wrote that you have to stick with it through the first few chapters. From the point at which it ‘clicked’ I found it mesmerising. The story is beautifully told - at the same time simple and profound. It combines a human perspective with that of representatives of the natural world, giving a strong sense of the symbiotic relationship between the two. It is a remarkable novel in which the setting is as important as the story.
