In 2019, I stumbled upon this on Amazon Prime after watching Tiny Robots (which I have also reviewed) and I started to watch it, but I had a nagging feeling that I shouldn't. Like it was cursed or something. Then, in October 2020, when I had nothing else to do but wait for Halloween, I decided to sacrifice my sanity (once again) to watch it on YouTube. And, boy oh boy, is it bad. Like, terribly bad! I'll talk about it in more detail in the 5 categories below.
Story: I wasn't expecting another Nutcracker Sweet. But that's what I got. The plat is so basic and generic and pretentious, it makes Emoji Movie look very well planned out. So so, the protagonist, is very generic, and so all the other characters. It has a simple goal (save the barn from giant rats) but literally has no other things to focus on instead, like a subplot or a lesson about being a better person. Finally, it has the worst pacing in a movie besides Newsies.
Editing: It's ok, although some scenes go on for far too long. It also has the most spectacular edit at 24:41.
Dialogue: Even though this is the best aspect of the film, it is pretty uninspired, generic stuff. And there are some dirty jokes here and there.
Voice Acting: Why are the voice actors very close to the mic? It's very irritating!
Animation: Very strange character designs, I gotta say. But at least they do look like what they're supposed to like. It has very strange shapes, though.
This is one of the worst films I've ever seen! But it's better than Nutcracker Sweet because it has a better rodent villain. And it's better than Foodfight because it has better action sequences involving produce and it didn't take over a decade to make.
Overall score: 3/10
