All I can say, as someone who has been listening to Protest the Hero ever since they were just doing local shows around southern Ontario: It was worth the wait.

I've never read any of John Sandford's work, so I cannot speak to his consistency. Having said that, this is a very, very good SciFi/Political Thriller mashup. I am a big fan of Hard SF and really like when political/sociological stakes are at play in the story. Sandford does a great job in his freshman outing in the genre. From the sounds of other reviews, it seems like there are a lot of people familiar with his bibliography and were dissappinted with the departure from his normal genres. Having never read his work I feel that I have been spared the bias and was able to appreciate the work without any expectations holding me back.
