A gripping book. It's beautiful and very sad. Don't expect an adventure novel as most of the characters are forced to a life of servitude and confinement, and yet the narrative which balances between mother and daughter makes it desperately easy to read - thus so many of us finishing the whole book in a couple of days. The feelings are intense, and raw, we navigate towards the characters' self-discovery and come to despise the systemic violence against women, rooted in patriarchy, colonialism, and more violence. The only con is that at times dialogues are repetitive, unrealistically stretching over several sittings to fit the narrative BUT overall the style works. It's a necessary story, brilliantly told.
