I’m troubled by the “historical fantasy” sales approach to this series. Promoting an English period piece as being racially diverse when it was not is both incorrect and disappointing. Sadly the less-than-knowledgeable viewers who have no understanding of history will view this program and believe it to be fact. The writings of Dickens, based in historical fiction, are closer to the truth than this book turned mini-series by Shondaland media. Possibly her other series’ successes have blinded investors to think that she can make up anything and it will be successful. I’m shocked at the level people will reduce themselves to just to make a dollar. My words are nothing less than what everyone else is thinking about this show but will not speak it out loud. This “emperor” has no clothes. I’m the little voice in the crowd stating the truth. Historical rewrites under the name “fantasy” like Bridgerton are a huge disappointment. Stop thinking that you can be the next “Hamilton” which frankly was a huge stretch and recreation of history in itself. I would have like it better as an animated show or a musical to allow for the fantasy this show proclaims. Wake up folks. This is not worth watching.
