As the Founder of the Michael J Fox Foundation, and knowing this film was vetted by the American Academy of Neurology, as a Neurologist I was disappointed. There was no discussion about his work-up which he no doubt had, one image of him being in a MRI scanner and a T1 image montage. Nothing about the Genetic work up ( does he have a family history?, does he have a PARK1 gene profile?) or about his Neuroimaging in SPECT ( DaTScan or PET (18FDG, 11C-Raclopride, 18F-Dopa) or about his clinical management, he mentions popping Sinemet but what about long acting DA agonist patches like Neupro? Did he try Deep Brain Stim as was Rumored??? I am left suspecting a cover-up. Every Neurologist knows that at 27 years old, the chances of him getting Drug induced Parkinsonism from “ designer” drugs like MPP or MDA that he got at a party in LA is more likely than Parkinson’s Disease. Yet no mention on the subject though he admits to drinking and partying hard. Very Unfortunate but I can understand why the negative connotations of such an admission would be prohibitive, then he shouldnt have made a movie. Shame on the Director, my opinion.
