After having watched only the first two episodes:
Ewan McGregor is a good actor, it's a shame his talent isn't matched by the rest of the production.
The direction, story, much of the rest of the acting, and especially the camerawork were standard, tired, safe, and sadly rather boring. Either the director or the editing staff have no sense of pacing, how to make a scene feel and look tense, and action believable, or the Execs came in with a thick checklist of things it needed to have and be, which ultimately turned it into yesterday's reheated fast food for your eyes, a rather unfulfilling fast food to say the least.
It really felt like a show made for children and executives. All the corners and edges taped up and rounded. The writing was bland, predictable, unexciting, and deeply uninteresting. Were the actors capable of rising to the challenge they might have wrung some emotion from the deadened script, sadly much of the performances are bad, lacking any whiff of gravitas.
The ONLY thing that (in my opinion unsuccessfully) carries this show is the character focus, namely Obi-Wan, and Anakin, and Leia. Were this simply just a show without the branding, I don't think anyone would be coming back. Occasionally the visuals are nice, and the costuming is good, Ewan is good, but so far, this show has wasted my time and attention.
Continuing 3 through 5:(The above might be a bit harsh, because as of episode 5 it is more interesting, the acting got a bit better, and some of the pacing an editing seemed to have improved.. it's still nothing particularly great.. but it's ok. So I'm upgrading it to 3 stars, instead of the original 2)
