Honestly I wasn’t going to write a whole review but felt it was necessary because of some of the negative feedback the book has received. Everyone is entitled to their opinion so here’s mine… Full disclosure, I couldn’t put this book down and read the entire series in a week. Which isn’t all that difficult because it’s an easy read! The first book captured my attention but the second and third books really sealed the deal for me. I think a lot of people were taken back by some of the subject matter in the series as a whole but I think that’s more of a preference than an actual negative point to the series. I’ve been reading fan fiction for a few years now so I’m used to the enemies to lovers trope as well as hating the female lead for several chapters because she can’t seem to pull herself together. I will say that I enjoy these aspects of books like this one because it strengthens the character development and makes the reader feel something towards the character whether it’s hate, frustration, or love. I for sure had feelings towards the characters hence why I needed to continue reading till there was nothing left! I do want to make something very clear about this series, it is fantasy and although there is fluff throughout, our main characters also have dark back stories which include sexual trauma, physical abuse, and mental abuse. I knew going into this series that there were darker themes involved and I find those themes to heighten character development. If that is something you don’t like or isn’t for you then don’t read it!
