It feels good to know that stories like this are popping around and people are ready to experiment with it. And as with all experiments, not all succeed. Being a history and mythology enthusiast it is good to know that the writer has taken into consideration the concept of colonial history and mixing it along with tribal deities to produce an age-old concept of crowd hunting monsters. The important thing lacking here, which is the base of a horror show is a really well-written backstory. The backstory here in this show is not effectively depicted and has been hardly given any time on screen. It is just like a well-cooked curry with all spices but lacks the salt.
And people who are saying that zombies firing muskets, following orders are not cool, well let me tell you you need to broaden up your mind to let new things come to you and most importantly there is no rule book to designing monsters. Its the author's depiction
