Perhaps for a genre of screwed-up noir stories, with limp plots and overall weak internal connectedness, it is almost ok.
Once the little girl starts singing "Old MacDonald", it would be a good notion to turn off the movie's soundtrack and put on a Youtube version of that song, with it looping, for the rest of the movie.
There is little suspense. The movie drags on and on as the predictable, inevitable events fall like tiresome dominoes, leading to the creepy ending leaving a nice little girl left being raised by two horribly pathological people.
A real feel good story.
Oh, there is a fair amount of rather arousing sexual acts for fair measure.
