A long time ago (1996) a friend of mine knocked on my door and on opening it she thrust a copy of August and Everything After into my hand and said "You have to listen to this"....that was 27 years ago....and that album by Counting Crows has defined a lot of the progression of my life. Fast forward to 2023....a few weeks back, my Colm, (if I am Padraig) (watch the movie and you'll understand), said to me, "Banshees of Inisherin, you have to watch it"....and I did....again...and again...It is a masterpiece. A Revelation. An insight to the fabric of society and friendships. 10/02/23 and I have watched it now for the third time....and the despair and loneliness do not dissipate....I have been there, on those islands, in that Ireland, maybe 70 years later but I know these paths....I know..in recent times I have had conversations with close friends and to be honest we have taken to the philosophy of the banshees of Inisherin in that we have realised that it is better to surround oneself with those who you wish to be with.....and not those who you find yourself with
