I didn't like this book at all. I hadnt read Brooklyn, the 1st book. I couldn't get any real sense of the main characters at all & felt that it was written in a very simplistic one dimensional way. I continued with it just to see how it ended but in fact there is no ending! Very disappointing. Will not be choosing this author again

I havent read anything by this author before but as she is very well known & the book was hopefully a mystery/thriller which I usually enjoy I gave it a go. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy it. It all seemed implausible & one of the main characters didn't have any personality to speak of. I didnt enjoy the violence & thought the ending a bit silly.

A light read. A crime thriller, not particularly interesting or imaginative with a few clichéd turns of phrase e.g a glass of whisky referred to as amber liquid, cups of tea referred to as steaming. A bit like a first attempt really.
