I love CBS morning show. Today’s episode with a National review was a little disappointing due to her recommendation of Waiting to Exhale for young readers. She missed the point of recommending wonderful young adult and teen authors such as Jason Reynolds, Kwame Alexander, Jacqueline Woodson and Sharon Draper just to name a few. When we have the opportunity to influence our youth and they are listening we need to include them in the voice. While Terry MacMillian is an amazing author Waiting to Exhale is not needed for youth, young adults subject matter does not include them and we can do better.
