I enjoyed The Woman in the Window so had high hopes for this, but it was difficult to get into. I have to admit I didn't really enjoy it, although I did stick it out until the end and was glad I did, as the final reveal was worth it. Shame the whole book didn't have the same impact as the ending. I don't think I would seek out any more books by this author.

Tedious. Am halfway through and not enjoying it at all. The endless talk about boundaries and planning laws and electric gates and the tarmacking of the courtyard is repetitive and getting nowhere, though it is of course obvious where it is all leading. To be on chapter 19 and still waiting for something to happen is disappointing.

I loved this book, I had only been to Brixton the week before so could picture the streets so clearly. I was in tears at the end. I passed it on to my friend and she has just messaged me to say it was one of the best books she has ever read.
