I hope there's a season 2 with improvements, considering a vast majority of viewers have similar feedback. After watching the entire show, the chef who won was much less talented than the other chefs. Why was the ending not a compilation of all the reviews of ALL the dishes served? Talented chefs were eliminated every round because home cook "judges" didn't understand the rules. There are too many crossed wires when you have professionals and non-professionals competing against AND judging one another. The less refined palette will favor food they're accustomed to, which creates a bias on who will make food others like in the competition versus 5-star, worthy plates.
If you want to preserve the competitors judging each other fairly, it could be worth half the final score (or less given how preferential it is), and multiple fine cuisine, Michelin star chef judges provide the other 50% rating. I grew frustrated watching non-food critics critique food at opposite ends of the spectrum, and genuinely talented chefs lose out based on immense bias, poor judgment, and a dash of unluckiness.
