A series and topic that has so much potential. Wonderfully acted and directed. When one connects British Intelligence into a web of stereotypical paranoia and espionage, it sounds like it would be a fun five episodes to watch. Unfortunately, the writers fell back into characters, who, when their life is in danger, they do not do what they are told to do, only to mess it all up for another episode or so. The CIA seems to have better luck using a civilian than their own crew for spying. And the lead CIA agent seems to be trigger happy, which goes against their training. Characters appear to be able to lose someone relatively easily. And why send two or three characters to kill someone when you can send one who fails miserably?
As for the ending? Well, I'm not sure when Maddy and Audrey had time to work out the details, but that's what happened. I guess we are to believe that Audrey grew her conscience back.
Treason isn't a terrible five episodes. It's just sad that all that talent was wasted on a script that had more holes in it than most villains at the end of a bad cop show. And the characters didn't match the depth necessary to match the talent that was bringing them to life.
