I think it is inhumanity at its lowest. I believe what happened with Raja Ratan Singh and Rani Padmavati then may happen with anyone. No one is supreme.
It was a time when Khilji happened to be more powerful , having a bigger army than Ratan Singh. He wanted to take Rani Padmavati from Ratan Singh. Though Ratan Singh knew Khilji is more powerful than him but he fought for the honor and protection of his lady and homeland as anybody else would have done.
He lost the war and died in it. Rani Padmavati and 1600 other women along with her had to put themselves on fire to save themselves from the rapist and to save their dignity.
It was one of the darkest moment in the history of the India. I don't think anybody could understand their pain, anguishness and helplessness.
The fact that 1600 of our countrywomen had to put themselves on fire to save their dignity on losing the war is so sad that is even hard to describe in words.
Today a movie is made on this for what ? To show us their pain, anguishness and helplessness ? I am afraid I draw no pleasure watching the plight of my countrymen and women on large screen. I see no entertainment in it.
Is this art ? Or inhumanity?
So if this is art , next time if you see anybody house or family burning , you please don't miss the chance to make the movie and Ensure that you capture their pain as real as possible because there are so many critics out to gauge your work. Because the more real the pain you show, the more points you score.
To me , it is not art but inhumanity.
