As a Canadian, I am always interested in the comparison with Canada - which rarely gets a mention... since about 80% of us live on the border, and we follow U.S. politics, most wonder why there are not enough references to social democracies (social democratic governments) which make the American 'model' often look very much like a bad experiment with regard to social justice... or, we see Bernie as someone who explains the situation, and has remedies. Canada has a higher educational level, and puts emphasis on assisting schools in low income areas, which has worked well. As a former college student in America (Vermont), I am familiar with some world class institutions of higher learning, i.e. experimental schools, and make the point to my Canadian friends that, despite obstacles, there are some wonderful learning opportunities for the creative mind. Goddard College in Plainfield is an icon.
