It goes so much deeper than a father/son story. Hurt by a disengaged parent, to the point of numbness, how far would you go to see them one more time? How many of us have watched them pass after telling them they were loved when illness, mental or otherwise, prevented them from saying it back? It's a story of perseverance, of giving yourself another chance at happiness and having the strength to tear down the walls to get there. Its a wonderful message.
