I read an Autobiography, about a girl fighting for freedom and rights. The book was written by the Nobel peace prize winner of 2014, Malala Yousafzai. It is called "Malala, The girl who stood up for education and was shot by the Taliban”. It was the non-fiction book of the year. The book talks about what a society went through, as the Taliban restricted their freedoms forcefully.
The tone of the book was serious, sad and threatening. The genre of the book was horror and crime. The book was written in chronological order. Every event was explained in detail, hence any reader would understand the text clearly.
I personally enjoyed reading this autobiography. The book inspired me a lot, reading about someone doing what she wanted and succeeded in it. What she did made a difference not only for her but for many other girls in her country. The book had a lot of background story which helped the reader know what was going on. Malala described everything in detail, which helped the reader relate or imagine the situation she was in.
I have read many other nonfiction books and autobiographies, but this book topped the list. Usually, I don’t like reading books, especially nonfiction books, but I really enjoyed this book and I always wanted to keep reading on. The book always left me on a cliffhanger wherever I stopped reading. The main thing that prompted me to read the book was the way it was written. Malala explains everything in detail so you would be able to imagine what was happening.
There were many messages in this book, “Do what you want to do”, or “If you will nothing is impossible”, but the one that stood up to me was “Have the courage to follow the will of your heart”. These morals or messages were shown through the action and feelings of Malala. Malala had the courage to follow the will of her heart, which helped not only her life but many others.
Overall this was a fantastic and inspiring book. I would recommend this book to young teenagers. The book gives a great moral, about “Nothing is impossible for a willing heart”. The moral is expressed through the action of Malala and her courage to stand up against the Taliban.
