I LOVED this show’s 1st Season. Gary, the designer really expressed her love of color & fun. She was a bright energizer & a fabulous creator for the public that wanted to express themselves & couldn’t.
Second Season: someone held her back! They ruined her. She’s become influenced by either the priducers (to make money), or the public that might have pulled her back to tone down. Now, awful dull colors & same-ol-same-ol home remodeling show. Stop holding her back! She’s still fun, just look at her lilac room. Her home is still one of a kind but now the designs she creates for others are standard with a little pop of dull color, drapes, accents & wall paper.
I love the dynamics of Gray with her Dad, Grumpy. So endearing. It would be nice if Gray introduced Mike as her partner or husband (whatever). In Season 1 she did; not in Season 2. For all we know they parted ways & are acting like friends on the show. The dynamics should include the two of them more or we aren’t buying into a “lovely couple” routine. All 3 characters are wonderful as well as the other designers & helpers of the show.
I love it, but can see you’ve not let her go wild & express herself as in Season 1. Let Gray be herself. We love her!
Lastly, there’s always a crescendo in any show but the hiccups the producers present in Season 2 are starting to make Gray look like she’s not watching out for the process. IE: the knotty pine children’s room got painted white when it wasn’t to be painted. They ran out of time, brought furniture in that won’t fit in the doorway. These all add to the drama but make Gray look uninvolved in her own projects. That reduces our opinion. Stop making her look simple. Find another way to present a crescendo.
I’ll continue to watch but I am a little disappointed after a wonderful Seasin 1. I blame the producers for trying to make it look like any other HGTV home improvement show. Gray: I say LEAVE THEM & do your work the way you want. Don’t hold back.
