After watching it, I decided to give it 2 stars (an extra star for the animation). This is why:
1. The shallow characters. First of all, none of the characters have any personality, which is bad (especially for the main character). She's the quirky trope and overall has a very "generic main character" personality. Her friends are also basically the 7 dwarfs, so their personalities are basically their names. Soooooo creative. The king also felt very weird. At the start he's shown to be a kind king with a traumatic past, only wanting the best for the people and his kingdom, but halfway his personality does a total 180 and now he wants power? Like what? This was before he became "possessed" by the book by the way.
2. So many things don't make sense. Again, why did the king's personality do a 180? How tf did the citizens hear Asha sing when she was at the top of a 200m tower? Especially since we was practically whispering? And you're telling me the king with all his power he gathered from the wishes gets defeated... From normal people singing about their wishes? Like why does this happen? And him getting defeated that way is just so stupid. The king deserved better than this.
And just a little note, Asha's reasoning for taking the wishes back is so dumb "they don't belong to the king", uhm but the citizens WILLINGLY gave their wishes to him though? It's not like he stole their wishes or anything. It also feels dumb how forced of a villain the king is. Honestly he could just say "yeah I'll give their wishes back" but no Disney had to make him say no for the plot to progress
