I started out the same as everyone else thinking it was a bit awkward and not what I really wanted. I have played games of the age of sail as far back as Pirates! on msdos, to the first mmo Pirates of the burning sea, and many others. I gave S&B some time, and put in hours and it started to grow on me. It may not be as realistic as I hoped but it offers a challenge and makes ships that should be rare...rare. The waters arent filled with people sailing ships of the line or superfrigates like in many games. With this there is a huge amount of room for expansion and the games story also intensifies with plot and betrayals like the TV series black sails. Is this game truly 5 stars? maybe not, more like 4, but I will give it 5 to fight back the terrible reviews given by people who didn't give it enough of a chance to shine. Try it, you will be surprised in the end.
