It needs to be known that we were not prepared as much as this movie portrays we were during the invasion (and 2 years after). We rarely had armored vehicles (if any) We did not have armored plates either. They sent us to war in 2003 using Vietnam FLAC jackets (which we had to also use in the vehicles to slow small arms fire and/or shrapnel). Not too mention other regulation disparities discussed in other reviews.
It is true however that after destroying water towers and other community infrastructure we did go about trying to fix them. Pulling security while engineers and others were setting one up outside Najaf is the first time I had to aim at a child..Luckily an elder was able to de-escalate the situation (the boy just wanted to sell us the knives) I couldn't finish the movie bc it still triggers some things in me. With that said, I will continue to pray for us that braved that heat, chaos and critism of that deployment. May we never forget our losses
