Phenomenal acting by BOTH stars and the supporting stars. I cannot find one thing to criticize, except that it's Very Depressing. True to Wong Kar Wai's formula of how one may go around the world to come back to the same place to discover one's self. This is told through the main character's perspective, in this case, Tony Leung's character, with his lover, played by Leslie Cheung.

The premise was promising, it was GRIPPING most of the way, the acting was good by ALL. I am CERTAIN the Obama's DID NOT really produce the film. NOW, WHY did I give it a one star? HELL, because I can't give it a half star. It's contradictory, it seems GRIPPING BUT too draggy. It gives you many angles BUT NO perspective, no end. Why put in all these angles like the Deer and Flamingoes, the pamphlets, ALL THOSE build up and NONE ADDRESSED.... There are movies which makes you think, which haunts you, like the first time you watched The Matrix, The Truman Show, but this? Meh.... not the worst waste of my 2 hours in my life, but SURE IS A WASTED 2 hours of my life (why 2 hours only? That's beause i) I didn't watch the ending credits, ii) some parts were So Draggy and BORING, I skipped entire portions of it.

Slowburn, but never boring. Build up was intriguing, no need for car chases, death defying stunts, just GREAT STORY telling and GREAT GREAT performances from the actors. Indy 5 producers, see how great story telling can change the game.
