I was going to rate it four until I saw the cover. I don’t like how they added a scene just to show naked 16 year olds. It’s basically Romeo and Juliet as a movie.

This movie is overly sexual and dumb. The movie is much more violent than the original also. Which made no sense because it was edited like H2O just add water. A horrible caricature of gang life and South America. (The only one with an accent is the Nurse???) Leonardo DiCaprio’s goofy teen voice didn’t match the original text. WHICH THEY DIDNT CHANGE. The amount of scenes added was enough to make a whole other movie. Also they made Mercutio and Romeo not related just to make him black and Romeo not. Do not chicken out halfway, MAKE THE ENTIRE FAMILY BLACK. But they won’t, because the only black character dies halfway through and if the whole family was black there would be black people that made it to the end of the movie. Disappointing, disgusting, and utterly a waste of time. Gnomeo and Juliet is closer to the original. If you want a modern version of Romeo and Juliet watch west side story.
